Step by Step Procedure on “How to Install Linux on VMWARE”
- First of all, Open VMware Workstation you installed on your system. And click on File –> Choose New Virtual Machine…
- Then you will have option either to go with Custom or Typical (recommended) , Here I chose “Custom“. Custom actual gives you better control on your resources.Select “Installer disc image (ISO)“, click “Browse” to select the ISO file, click “Open” then “Next”.
- Here you can chose on how many processors, memory, network etc, will be assigned to virtual machine. Please check image I2 and I3 where you are specifying number of processors and size of ram will be assigned to Virtual machine. In our case, we have 8core processors and 8GB RAM. Hence we gave, 2 cores and 2 GB ram to my virtual machine.
- Here we chose “Use network address translation (NAT)” so that my virtual machine can use the Internet connection.
- For “Select I/O controller types” and “select a disk type” We kept is as whatever recommended by vmware.
- We just need to provide the name of the disk file ( It’s automatic ) You can Click on Next
- This will show summary page before starting and creating virtual machine. You just have to crosscheck if all parameters are perfect for you. And click on finish
- Once you click Finish. VMware will start installation ( It will take 30-40 mins to complete the installation ) Once everything it done. You will have a final page.
